Review Of FindWhat

(Review updated - February 2005)
Editor's Choice

Quick Summary

Review

FindWhat is one of the main rivals to Overture (Review Here) in the pay-per-click search engine market. (Pay-per-click means that you place bids on relevant keywords (the more you bid the higher up the results you come), and only pay a person clicks on your search term).

At the time of writing, bids now start at $0.05 on FindWhat and go up in $0.01 increments to any value that you like. However in my experience it is far more cost effective to bid low on lots of keywords, than to place high bids on the most popular keywords.

Ideally - to get best results - you should bid on hundreds, or better yet thousands of relevant keywords. Fortunately this is relatively easy, as you can paste stacks of keywords into their web forms, one-per-line, and I understand that they also take Excel spreadsheet submissions.

FindWhat has a decent amount of traffic, with a number of important search sites sites syndicating their results.

Both FindWhat and its syndicates are free from incentive-based clicks, so, in my experience, the traffic quality is good.

FindWhat have good account management tools and I can also say for a fact that their customer service is excellent.

Like Overture (Review Here), FindWhat now has an auto-bidding feature: You can set the maximum you're prepared to bid for each of your keywords and the system automatically raises or lowers your actual bid, up to your limit, so as to maintain the best rank possible.

Additionally, as with most Pay Per Click search engines, all your keyword submissions are subject to editorial review (you can only bid on keywords that are relevant to your site). That said, I've never had any problems whatsoever in getting my keywords acceptd.

Conclusion

FindWhat is currently my favorite pay-per-click search engine. They have enough traffic to generate a decent number of click-thrus, but the bid prices are not nearly as competitive as their main rival, Overture (Review Here),

I therefore highly recommend FindWhat, and classify them as an Editor's Choice.
